Holistic chiropractic care is possibly the easiest, most cost effective, safest and most practical way to get out and prevent musculo-skeletal pain.
Having corrected posture and maintaining proper spinal hygiene is important for a number of reasons.
Posture affects and moderates all human functions, both consciously and unconsciously, from breathing, to hormone production, to thinking. Lennon et al. Postural and respiratory modulation of autonomic function, pain, and health. Am J Pain Manage 1994 (4) 36-39.
Changes in posture, like changes in segmental motion and alignment, change nerve (afferent) flow into the central nervous system. This nerve flow has a tremendous influence on brain activity and global physiology.
Increasing the stress and consequently strain in the CNS from abnormal static postural positions will cause an increase in intramedullary pressure, increased CSF pressure and increased neural canal pressure. This causes the exchange of oxygen and metabolic materials to and from the cord to reduce.
Perhaps the most interesting finding is that increased strain and/or deformation of the central nervous system after neural derangements or damage will directly interfere with the inherent healing capability of the Central Nervous System. Jiang et al. Spine.

What Protects your brain and nervous system, or your life force: The Human Skeleton
Did you know all of them practiced spinal manipulation and wrote about it extensively?
In fact, spinal manipulation was used by bone setters 7,000 B.C. in the Orient to treat and cure childhood colicky, ear infections and various childhood illness.
In the modern world, spinal manipulations are primarily handled by chiropractors thanks to the evidence based sciences and are called spinal adjustments, or simply referred to adjustment.
Effect of Faulty Lower Back Posture on Vertebra:
— If the pelvis tilts forward, the low back is brought into excessive extension or hyper-lordosis, which shifts more of upper body weight onto the relatively delicate rear vertebral joints making them prone to damage.
A 2012 study provides evidence that prolonged sitting is a risk factor for all-cause mortality, independent of physical activity.
“Risk for Sitting Disease” is calculated using threshold:
- “Low” risk for sitting under 4 hours per day
- “Medium” risk for sitting 4 to 8 hours per day
- “High” risk for sitting 8 to 11 hours per day
- “Very High” risk for sitting over 11 hours per day

Devastating Effects of Vertebral Subluxation (immobilization):
The impact of poor posture and immobilization not only has a bio-mechanical, but a biochemical and cellular component.
Adjust your thinking and your health.
Join the millions of Americans who have not only found relief from back pain, but also a pathway to wellness with chiropractic’s natural, drug-free approach to healthcare.
Your spinal column, made up of 24 independent vertebrae, is what allows your body to move, twist, and bend through every motion of your busy day. It also encases and helps protect the delicate nerve tissue that carries every communication between your brain and body. This is why we believe the first step to a healthy and active lifestyle is a healthy spine, free of subluxations. Sub-lux-what?
When two or more vertebrae aren’t working together properly, it is known as a subluxation. Subluxations can cause you to experience pain, discomfort, decreased mobility, or many other symptoms. These misalignments often go unnoticed even while causing major miscommunication between your brain and body.
If a subluxation prevents the nervous system from functioning properly, it will eventually lead to symptoms such as shoulder or elbow pain.
These symptoms are your body’s only way of letting you know something is wrong.
Unfortunately, by the time pain and symptoms appear the problem may have been present for months, even years. The great news is that you can help prevent these types of symptoms with routine chiropractic care.
