The Industrialization of Food- Why You Need to Turn on Your Garbage Disposal
Sugar
Your body does not know what to do with pure sugar. A few centuries ago, we consumed roughly five pounds annually. Today, the average person consumes 150 pounds of sugar annually, which is an artificially produced and nutritionally deficient substance. Next, Industrialization has turned it into a “Great White Shark,” causing chronic diseases such as obesity, heart disease, fatty liver, and diabetes.
White Flour
Refined white flour became the first fast food and the root cause of passing along this Western disease. Before the Industrial Revolution, every single kind of flour had to be stone-ground without separating the germ from the kernel. In addition, with iron rollers, the germ is popped out, and white flour is created, which lacks nutrients and causes deficiency diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.
Wheat
Wheat, corn, and rice flours suffer from the same fate, causing epidemics such as pellagra and beriberi. In addition, to balance the epidemics, public health authorities added fortified folic acid to these products and other chemicals, but it failed miserably, leaving us with deficiency diseases.
Carbohydrate Myths
Fast-acting carbs without healthy fats cause ADHD, increasing the surge in blood sugar, crashing, and triggering the release of adrenaline. Consuming processed foods and sugar can shrink our kids’ brains, making it harder for them to learn and lowering self-esteem. In addition, giving our children fake foods and sugar is the perfect recipe to have their focus diminished.
