#14: NASA, Gravity & Movement Paradox
The Importance of Movement for Health and Wellness
NASA, Gravity & Movement Paradox
In this training, Everything You’ve Learned About Exercise is Dead Wrong!
I’m going to look at what NASA discovered about our sedentary lifestyles and how it surprisingly is similar to the gravity-free lifestyles of astronauts in space. In space, Astronaut’s health rapidly deteriorates outside of gravity’s pull. The Importance of Movement for Health and Wellness is crucial to understand.
Listen, if you’re serious about improving your health, living pain-free or you just don’t want to be sick anymore, here’s how to find out if I can help you. Call us at 219-769-5433, mention this show and we can begin together to find out today!
I discuss:
- Why when astronauts leave for space, their health suffers
- How movement charges the brain and most tissues, and cells in the body
- Why movement is not the same as exercise
6 KEY CONCEPTS:
- NASA & GRAVITY:
- MOVEMENT IS NEAT:
- Movement Transcends Exercise:
- The concept of Dentistry & Chiropractic:
- Our Daily Requirement for Movement:
- The parable of the Orca Whale:
I am really excited to start you on this journey and I hope to add a lot of value to your life as a whole.
Show Transcript:
Nutrition is remarkable in its ability to have people with completely opposite views saying they have science to support completely opposite views.
Frustrating isn’t it? What are we suppose to believe?
NASA, GRAVITY, AND MOVEMENT
(NASA astronaut Jerry Ross with Dr. Matt Hammett. Ross is a veteran of seven Space Shuttle missions, making him the joint record holder for most spaceflights and the one person who has lived through the devastating effects of Gravity Deprivation Syndrome the most.)
Ross has over 1,393 hours in space, including previously held record of 57 hours and 55 minutes on nine different spacewalks.
The Impact of Gravity on the Body
NASA scientist Joan Vernikos warns that leaving Earth leads to health depreciation for astronauts due to the loss of mechanoreception stimulation and movement stimulation. The force of gravity and body loads moving against cells are responsible for charging the brain and cells in our bodies. Without gravity and mechanical loading of cells, health deteriorates because most cells in our bodies and brain have specialized equipment to sense the mechanical environment.
Sedentary Lifestyles and Gravity-Free Lifestyles
NASA’s research in space and gravity-related research shows that a sedentary lifestyle is surprisingly similar to the lifestyle of astronauts in space. In addition, both lifestyles deprive the body of essential motion and mechanical loading of cells. In space, astronauts’ health rapidly deteriorates outside of gravity’s pull. Next, while in a sedentary environment, our health eludes us down a spiral path toward sickness.
Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (NEAT)
World-renowned exercise physiologist James Levin coined the term NEAT for the small, brief, yet frequent muscular movements we make throughout the day. In addition, dynamic movements like standing, sitting, lying down a certain way, and changing positions are the most efficient way to activate the sensory input throughout our body and charge the brain and cells of our bodies. Research shows that people who move around a lot all day, even if they don’t go to the gym or engage in intense exercise, burn up much more calories than people who are sedentary.
Movement is not Exercise: The Importance of Movement for Health and Wellness
Movement transcends and includes our exercise, and it is essential for charging the brain and cells of our bodies. The leading world-renowned biomechanist Katy Bowman confirms that movement is not the same as exercise. In addition, movement includes things like getting up from your desk, doing some jumping jacks, stretching, walking, changing your posture, spinal adjustments, and improving alignment. Next, if we hit the gym for an hour in the morning and then sit for the rest of the day, our DNA suffers.
The Importance of Chiropractic Care
Subluxation of the spine due to immobility can cause the loss of sensory input, leading to brain function and cellular function impairment. Finally, only a Doctor of Chiropractic is trained to locate specific spinal segments not moving properly and adjust them back into motion turning on the essential mechanoreceptive input. In addition, generating the charge for the brain, mitochondria, and cells of the body. A sedentary lifestyle contributes to subluxation of the spine and may impair the sensory input that charges the brain and our cells. Next, leading to disease and the inability to feed our genes the necessary essential nutrient requirements for movement.
